After the excitement of the party season finally over its time for us to get back to reality! With the 2017 diaries beginning to fill up with award season and fashions hottest parties; it’s a great time to hunt out some of the new trends that are going to be big in 2017.
The first major date in the fashion calendar is Men’s fashion week. With this comes fresh new styles and exciting colour palettes to match. For men, this year brings a variety of fashion trends ranging from some popular classics to the more fashion forward. There is something for everyone no matter your style!
Utility
One of the biggest trends in menswear for 2017 is utility style clothing. Think practical garments with added zip and pocket features teamed with earthy colours. To stay on top of style take a leaf out of Valentinos book and look out for colours such as khakis, creams and stones as well as bold checked patterns. With this trend we will see boundless choices of jackets; something which men of all ages will need as the seasons begin to change! These will include formal tailored jackets featuring tweed and heavy wools; perfect for pre SS17 when the weather is often brisk as the months beforehand, as well as more casual alternatives such as the parka.
Top Tip : One of the easiest ways to get a hit of utility in your wardrobe without breaking the bank is to grab yourself some camo! Camo products will be easily accessible on the high-street and will give you the versatility to team the products with more causal items such as denim or even some lounge wear which will be already hiding in your wardrobe!
Sport Lux
Another of 2017 male trends is sure to take you back to your youth! Lux sportswear is coming back, and not only that but we are seeing some modern collaborations from some of your sporting favourites such as Nike and Commes Des Garcons. This trend will see the introduction of technically designed outerwear; fusing both fashion with technical aspects such as zip detailing and water resistant materials. Alongside these newer designs, we will also see some 90s favourites such as puffer jackets and cotton leisure wear.
Top Tip: If sport wear isn’t enough; team it with this seasons colour palettes! Designers such as Louis Vutton and high-street brands such as Top Man have teamed their casualwear with bold colours ranging from neon brights to subtler purple and yellow colour options. These will certainly brighten up any outfit!
Leather
If you don’t feel adventurous enough to try some of the other trends hitting the high-street ; why not opt for one of the classics that never fails to impress : Leather. Leather will be making a big come back in 2017 with the re-emergnce of the “punk” trend ; think skinny shirts , ripped detailing and tartan patterns which also swept the Coach runway. Why not invest in a new jacket; team this with a checked shirt and slim fit denim for a laidback look.
Top Tip : If you are going to invest in some outerwear this year, leather is the way to go! Real leather is durable and great quality. It will also age fantastically well; giving each individual a jacket that has unique characteristics and colour.
