Moving your look from day time comfort to evening glam can be difficult at the best of times however;  After a long day of phone calls, paper work and emails it can often be rather daunting  to get ready for that office party.  Something which is all too familiar during December and the months that follow!  

How can you make the transition from day to night without breaking the bank and without the last minute outfit stress? 

Accessories; 

Whether its jewellery or shoes; accessories are the easiest way to transform your look from day to night. Colour and sparkle can be added to any everyday outfit by the simple addition of a bag, belt or heels.  Adding some sparkle won’t go a miss during the festive period so look out for a glitter belt to sinch in that dress waistline and complete the look with a matching bag. Alternatively pick up a velvet or sequin blazer which will transform your outfit into a new party ready outfit. 

Top Tip :  

Add some glitter in the form of some funky heels suitable for all those festive glitter bugs! Opt for a sparkly strappy sandal if your outfit of choice is a dress to give the illusion of elongated legs or stay edgy and stylish by opting for these seasons must have – glitter boots!   

Tops :  

If you are an office gal who sports some tailored trousers or skirts to work; changing your top half can give you a whole new outfit! To get in the festive frame of mind, why not pick out an embellished number with plenty of sequins and glitter to make you stand out from the crowd. Equally there are some beautiful embossed pieces on the high street that can give you some subtle feminine glam without going over the top.  

Top Tip : Tuck your top into your bottoms to enhance your waistline and complete the look with some heels and a belt.  This will give the illusion of elongated legs and completely change your everyday outfit to a more sheek alternative.   

Skirt:  

For some , flaunting your legs at this time of year can be a bit of a thought , however If you are willing to brave the cold there are some beautiful skirts to be had on the high street. These can be pulled on to wear with your current top half and teamed with some heels for a sophisticated evening ensemble.  For an on trend look opt for a soft feminine midi skirt in a metallic colour palette. Alternatively, look out for lots of texture which can be found in the form of leather or velvet to create a more edgy style. 

Top Tip:  

Keep your shape in mind when skirt shopping. To balance out wider hips opt for a blocked colour skirt and patterned top. To balance out wide shoulders , opt for some texture and pattern on the bottom half and go for this seasons must have pleated midi skirts whilst keeping the top half nice and simple.  

 

Something new:  

Alternatively , break the mould and take a travel bag filled with new outfit goodies for the one day a year when you can get dressed up , drink champagne and celebrate the incoming of 2017 and the successes of 2016 with collegues, friends or family!  The high street is filled with some gorgeous pieces from the ever classic LBDs to stand out one piece jumpsuits, there really is something for every shape, size and budget.

It can be very easy to get carried away at this time of year on outfit buying. Discounts and festive deals can make us more likely to impulse buy. If you are going to treat yourself to something new make sure it’s something you! Opt for something you know you can wear again in the new year!
